You may need to install the intermediate certificates if at all you received a certificate then installed the certificate under the PEM format on your windows server. The browser shows unsafety warnings of the certificates if the server lacks the intermediate certificates.
The following steps will help you to install the intermediate certificates on your server:
1. Add the certificate Snap-in.
· Start the MMC then click the start menu>Run.
· In the text box type mmc then click on.
· Choose on “file” at the top of the screen then choose “Add/Remove snap-in.
· Select “Certificates” in the “available snap-ins” category then hit the “Add” icon.
· Choose the computer account that will manage the certificates then hit “Next”.
· Choose “Local computer” then hit the “Finish” icon.
· The “Certificates” snap-in was chose. Hit “OK” adding it to the console.
2. Import the root/Intermediate certificates.
· For Importation of an intermediate certificate click on “Intermediate Certification Authority”>”All Tasks”>Import.
· For importation a root certificate click on “Trusted Root Certification Authority”>”All Tasks”>”Import”.
· Hit on the “Import” icon that will then run certificate import wizard.
· Search for the intermediate certificate that you wish then to import then click on “Next”.
· Choose the certificate store that you wish to receive the intermediate certificate into “Intermediate certification authorities” and “Trusted Root Certification Authorities” for the intermediate certificates and the root certificates respectively.
If by any chance you have more than one of intermediate or the root certificates then choose “Automatically select the certificate store based on the certificate type”. Wizard will then automatically choose the certificates then import then to the proper stores.
· Hit “Finish” icon completing certificate importation on wizard.
